After winning three Oscars early this year,
Peter Jackson's remake of the classic King Kong now has its video game version. One of the world’s largest interactive video game publishers, Ubisoft, and Universal Studios Consumer Products Group have announced plans to release an interactive game based on the blockbuster film helmed by the creator of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I admit I am very much excited about this one since LOTR game was totally cool.
Behind the making of the
video game are Jackson's Wingnut Films, Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil development team, and the award-winning Montreal studio made up of some of the interactive game industry’s most creative designers. Ubisoft is expecting to capture in the video game the same intensity, excitement, thrills, and action that the movie game its audience when it was shown in theaters during the last holiday season.
The movie was awarded by the Oscars last March for its achievement in in visual effects, soud mixing, and sound editing. It starred
Naomi Watts (21 Grams), Jack Black (School of Rock), and Adrien Brody (The Pianist). If the movie wasn't a remake, I bet it would have swept the technical categories. Actor Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, provided the digital movements for the giant ape.
